Martensville Friends Supports ‘Walk n Talk’ Campaign

by Jocelyn Ottenbreit

Saturday, October 3rd was a beautiful day for a group of friends to join The Move For Life’s Annual ‘Walk n Talk’ movement with proceeds supporting the Andrew Puetz Family Grant.
Puetz died following an accident in 2020 and donated all of his organs, saving and improving many lives.
A few years later, Andrew’s cousin Megan gave birth to a daughter, Emma, needing a liver transplant due to a diagnosis of biliary atresia.
Megan and her family spent months at Edmonton’s Stollery hospital waiting desperately for a donor.
Their prayers were answered when another extended cousin came forward and donated a portion of her liver to Emma.
This grant helps Saskatchewan transplant recipients and their families with expenses that can accompany transplantation, including travel, medications, physiotherapy, medical devices and recovery costs.
It also encourages families to talk about organ donation and to make sure the people closest to you know your wishes.
If you would like to donate to the cause, go to www.moveforlifefoundation.com.
To register or learn more about being a donor, visit Saskatchewan.ca and search “Organ and Tissue Donor Registry.”
