Two of Martensville’s own – Jared Festus-Julian (#9) and Tristan Scott (#61) – travelled to Kelowna, B.C. to participate in the U18 Canada Cup with Team Saskatchewan from July 11 – July 17.
Teams from across Canada gathered to participate in the national tackle football championship, with Team Saskatchewan returning as the defending champions after their win in 2019. Following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, players were excited to have a chance to represent their provinces.
The Canada Cup was held at the Apple Bowl with a total of eight teams participating. Team Saskatchewan was ranked number one in the standings heading into the tournament.
The final game for the championship win was against Alberta, and Saskatchewan brought home the cup after overtaking the neighboring province with a score of 13-1 and capturing three straight Canada Cup gold medal wins for Saskatchewan.
