Martensville Momentum Heads to International Skating Competition

Skate Martensville is preparing to take to the international stage this week as its adult synchronized skating team travels to Vernon, BC to compete against skaters from around the world.
Martensville Momentum will represent Skate Martensville at the 2026 International Adult Figure Skating Competition, taking place September 16th to 19th.
The 15-member team includes adult skaters from Martensville, Warman, Saskatoon and Medstead who have come together through their shared passion for synchronized skating.
Coached by Danny James with choreography by Dani Dale, Martensville Momentum will compete in the Adult Synchronized Skating category on Saturday, September 19th.
The opportunity required Skate Martensville to look beyond its regular-season roster, as competitors must be at least 25 years old. With some of the club’s regular skaters ineligible because of the age requirement, skating friends from other clubs were invited to join the team.
Preparing for the international event has also meant developing an entirely new program.
The competition has its own technical and program requirements, meaning Martensville Momentum could not simply use the routine performed during the regular Skate Canada season. Instead, team members spent the off-season learning, developing and polishing a program specifically for the international competition.
The International Adult Figure Skating Competition brings together hundreds of adult skaters, with competitors expected from Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Poland, the United Kingdom, Germany and Monaco.
Competition will take place across several disciplines including free skating, artistic free skating, pairs, ice dance and synchronized skating.
For Martensville Momentum, the event will provide an opportunity to represent not only Skate Martensville but several Saskatchewan communities on an international stage.
The team’s Adult Synchro event is scheduled for Saturday, September 19th at 6:17 p.m. PDT and will be available to watch through the competition livestream, which can be found on the Skate Martensville Facebook page.
