Martensville Curling Club Kicks Off New Season with Competition and Upcoming Bonspiel

The Martensville Curling Club is getting ready for another busy season on the ice, with league play beginning in early October and registration now open for the second annual Martensville Open.
The season is already off to a successful start for local curlers Andrea “Andie” Fradette and Carter Grindheim, who captured the U20 Mixed Doubles Sask Cup #1 championship after going undefeated throughout the competition.
Team Grindheim/Fradette, along with Coach Dean, were congratulated by the Martensville Curling Club via social media following the win.
The club also recently hosted U20 Mixed Doubles CURLSASK competition along with several draws from the Sask Curling Tour, bringing a number of competitive teams to Martensville. Teams taking part included Team Simpson, Team Holland, Team Grindheim/Fradette, Team Sara Miller and Team Wood Curling.
For those unable to attend the action in person, games were also available to watch online through Curling Stadium Saskatchewan.
With competitive curling underway, the club is now preparing for the start of its regular leagues, which will hit the ice beginning October 5, 6, 7 and 8.
Registration is also open for the second annual Martensville Open, scheduled for November 27 and 28.
The bonspiel will offer cash prizes, including $250 per team, and will wrap up with a Saturday night social.
The Martensville Open marks one of the first bonspiels on the club’s calendar as another season of curling gets underway in the community.
Those interested in registering for the Martensville Open can do so through the Martensville Curling Club’s online registration system. Additional information is available by contacting Travis Gardewine at travisgardewine@gmail.com.
