Another very successful Ladies’ Bonspiel was held in Martensville on February 9-11 with the theme this year being “Rock of Ages”. There were 14 teams entered that kept the rink “rocking” on the weekend as some curlers took their costumes and spirit out on the ice. The Bonspiel consisted of three events with each team guaranteed three games. The banquet Saturday night was served by The Caesar Mill in Martensville. The ladies were treated to a delicious lasagna meal.
Heather Burnett, the Ladies’ representative and her committee, did a great job hosting this event again this year. They would like to especially thank Martensville Pharmacy and Snipz Hair Design & Spa who were major sponsors. There were also many sponsors from Martensville, Warman and Saskatoon. “Without our sponsors, we would not be as successful as we are when holding our Ladies Bonspiel,” commented Burnett. “We thank all who donated generously.” Every lady was treated to a door prize. There were so many that helped out but Burnett would especially like to thank Joanne Wood, Karen Gruza, Cara Zuchewich, and Kristin Smith with their help hosting the event. The ice was also in great shape thanks to Wes and Chris Guenther.
The finals of each event took place on Sunday at 2:00 P.M. with the Kristin Smith team winning the A Event. The B Event winners were the Hardcastle rink while Team Remeshylo brought home the C Event. The club is hosting an open Spiel on March 10-11.
