“We have had many players over the years attend this program and go on to play at a high level after getting noticed at this tournament,” said Joel Houseman, Senior Coordinator of High Performance.

Players hit the ice on Friday, April 1, for team practices and then competed in a round-robin competition with a total of eight teams on Friday, April 15 and continued throughout the weekend with finals on Sunday April 17.

Scouts were in attendance from SMAAAHL, SJHL, and WHL as well.

The Sask First Program has brought accomplishment and great pride since it was introduced in 1988 by Hockey Saskatchewan, and offers a chance for players, coaches, trainers, and officials to have a better understanding of the game, as well as promote their development.
