The Female Bantam Warman Wildcats started slow this year but finished with points in 11 out of 17 games. Coach Lee Morelli stated, “I was told from other league coaches we were the most improved team in the Sask Female Hockey League North Division finishing 6th out of 10 teams.”
There were girls from 13 different towns such as; Delisle, Davidson, Viscount, Spiritwood and more. According to Morelli, the girls “all got along great and spent the season as more of a family than a team.”
The team played one tournament in Swift Current this season. Although they played well and had a lot of fun, they did not place.
This year, three girls from Martensville played with the Wildcats; Kaylee Ayotte, Taelyr Ballard and Dylan Taggart.
“The highlight for the season would be beating Hague out in the survivor series playoff to advance to the second round. Also that the girls never gave up, we made plenty of third period comebacks this season,” Morelli added.
An awards ceremony was held on April 10, with awards going to:
Most Improved: Kaylee Ayotte
Most Dedicated: Taelyr Ballard
Best Defense: Jacquelyne Chief
Best Forward: Martine Morelli
MVP: Quterie Tipewan
