A special event will be taking place in Martensville this weekend at the North Ridge Community Centre. Rosette Events will be hosting ‘Tulips and Water Lilies’, a fundraiser set up to raise money for Mothers Empowering Mothers (MEM), a post-partum support group for Saskatoon and area. The group was formed in 2017 by postpartum professionals to provide support to women experiencing post-partum difficulties such as depression or anxiety, birth trauma, or other disorders related to maternal mental health. The services they provide help give women their village back, and include monthly post-partum support group meetings, post-partum doulas, lactation and breast feeding support, baby wearing education and more.

The event will run from 10am-4pm on Saturday, May 4th, and admission will be by donation to MEM. In addition, there will be a raffle with numerous incredible prize options, with all tickets sales being donated to MEM. There will be a variety of family-oriented activities taking place throughout the day such as a Sask Reptile Show at 1:30pm, a visit from Snow White and a Superhero between 1pm and 3pm, a Babywearing Basics with Raising a Little at 11am and Taming Tantrums with Elemental Baby Sleep Consultant at 3pm. There will also be a toddler play area sponsored by Uffda Play and free Mother’s Day photos from Trew Moments Photography available.

This is the first year for Tulips and Water Lilies; however, Rosette Events began hosting events last fall as non-profit, third-party fundraising for charities. “I organize and plan the events, securing entertainment and vendors, and include many family-oriented activities,” event organizer Michelle Whalen said. For Whalen, this began when she was a stay-at-home mother, as a way to continue volunteering her time for causes that she was passionate about. “Previously it was conservation and ecology, and after forming my own family, it included helping families and children in need. I also got to utilize my love of organizing and planning,” continued Whalen.

This weekend’s event will consist of approximately thirty vendors that will be selling a variety of products, many handmade or homemade. “There will be many wonderful Mother’s Day gifts for mom available through the crafters and bakers. There are definitely many activities that families could spend several hours with us!”
