Kim Fehr has had a love of baking since she was a child. Following the completion of high school, Fehr went on to complete her training at NAIT in Edmonton and from there had numerous opportunities working as a baker, cake designer/decorator, pastry chef & department supervisor. “My true passion has always been cake designer/decorator,” Fehr said.
That passion was the inspiration behind a successful business – Cakefrenzi. Fehr began her journey as an entrepreneur in 2016 and has made several changes to her business model throughout that time. “I have done workshops for adults and children, birthday and special occasion cakes and I plan to do pop-up workshops from time to time, but my primary focus is now on wedding cakes and cupcakes,” Fehr explained.
Providing the perfect cake/cupcake option for wedding days typically begins with a bride contacting Fehr with details including a wedding date and a basic idea. Next step is booking a consultation and a tasting of Fehr’s own ‘from scratch’ recipes and popular buttercream icing, which is where all of the final details and design are discussed. Once complete, Fehr delivers and sets up each of the cakes. “Part of my job that I absolutely love is meeting and connecting with people. I feel it’s such a blessing to be a part of their special day.”
