Getting Ready for Winter

As freezing temperatures approach, residents are encouraged to take a few simple preventative steps to protect their plumbing and irrigation systems from winter damage.

Winterization Checklist

Sprinkler and Irrigation Systems
Ensure all water is removed from your irrigation lines before freezing temperatures arrive. Consider hiring a professional to blow out the system using compressed air to help prevent water from freezing, expanding, and damaging pipes and components.

Outside Water Taps and Garden Hoses
Disconnect all garden hoses from outdoor taps, drain them thoroughly, and store them indoors for the winter.

Indoor Shut-Off Valves
Locate the indoor shut-off valve for your outdoor taps, typically found in a basement, crawlspace, or utility room. Turn off the valve completely, then open the outside tap to allow any remaining water to drain.

Outdoor Faucet Insulation
Install an insulated cover over each outdoor faucet to provide additional protection against freezing temperatures and cold winds.

Transportation Master Plan: We Want to Hear from You

Martensville is growing and we’re updating the Transportation Master Plan to help prepare for the future.

The plan will consider how people drive, walk, cycle, use mobility aids, and may use public or accessible transit in the future. It will also look at how goods and services move through the city.

Our goal is to support a safe, connected, and efficient transportation network that meets the community’s needs now and in the future.

We want to hear from you. Round 1 of community engagement begins in November. Tell us what is working well, what could be improved, and how you would like to get around Martensville in the future.
