Run for the Cure Fundaiser Exceeds Previous Total by More Than Double

Martensville’s business community often comes together to not only support one another, but also to help bring awareness and support to numerous incredible causes. Most recently, TEAM IRON elles Personal Training owner/operator Leanne Kolbe, along with Wrench Fitness manager Kerry Potter hosted a Run for the Cure Fun Run on October 1st to help raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society.

In 2019, this same event was held and saw an amazing total of $3,000 being raised. Due to COVID, no fundraiser was held last year; however, this year, the duo set high expectations, looking to exceed their 2019 total, which they did by more than double. This year, a whopping $7,536.25 was raised, which earned them the Family and Friends Team Challenge Award for the most money raised.

A total of 35 athletes came out to participate, meeting at Wrench Fitness, and then took part in either a 3km walk, or a 5km run throughout the community. Martensville was selected as the route to be officially marked by Run for the Cure due to being a top fundraiser.

“We far exceeded our fundraising goal, had a blast hanging out as a team and got in some exercise while we were at it. Thank you to all who contributed and participated and thank you to Run for the Cure for marking our route,” Kolbe stated.
