Martensville Slo-Pitch League Hosts Annual Plastic Bat & Ball This Weekend

by Jocelyn Ottenbreit

The Martensville Slo-Pitch League is getting ready to host the much-anticipated Plastic Bat & Ball tournament from April 16th to 18th at the Martensville Curling Rink, with 24 teams set to take part in the action. The annual event has become a go-to weekend for the community, bringing together players and spectators for a mix of friendly competition and a whole lot of fun.
Put on by the Martensville Slo-Pitch Committee, the tournament is known for its high-energy atmosphere and strong community vibe. Over the years, it has also become an important fundraiser, helping support a number of local projects and improvements around the city.
The league itself includes around 40 teams, with regular play running Sunday through Thursday evenings from May through mid-August. Funds raised through the tournament have gone directly back into upgrades at the slo-pitch diamonds in Kinsmen Park, including improvements to the main building, bar area, walk-in cooler, ice machine, covered dugouts, deck, playground, and ongoing maintenance of the facilities.
Adding to the weekend, the Martensville and District Kinsmen will be hosting a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning at the curling rink from 8:30am to 11:00am. Breakfast is by donation, with all proceeds going to the local KidSport chapter.
Residents are encouraged to come out, cheer on the teams, and take part in a great community weekend that supports both local recreation and youth programming.
