The Martensville Farmer’s Market will be kicking off their 2022 season on Wednesday, May 18th and currently has approximately 13 registered vendors to start the year off, which Market Manager Travis Blanchard is excited about.
“It is pretty awesome to see considering the produce season doesn’t start until the end of June or so,” Blanchard said.
The Market will be located in the Corner Store parking lot, located at 301 Centennial Drive North and will run Wednesday’s from 4pm-8pm. This Wednesday, Dan from Deadly Dans/Deadly Dogs, will be selling hot dogs and his locally crafted sauces. Karen’s Kitchen will also be on hand with fresh baked goods and Love It Food & Beauty Inc. will have a variety of soaps, beauty products and snacks. Those looking for a refreshing beverage option can choose from a variety of delicious honey wine from Meadworks Meadery, or you can purchase locally distilled spirits from Smooth 42.
There will even be options for your furry friends from Special Treats 4 Special Feet who will have quality, healthy treats on hand, or buy yourself something special from The Bag Ladies who will have handmade goods such as bags, purses and scrunchies.
Other options available will be BKN Jewellers who offer sterling silver, waterproof crystal earrings and jewelry and Close to Home Greenhouse will be bringing nutrient dense, fresh microgreens. Rave BBQ Rubs will also be on hand with their full line of locally crafted, all natural BBQ rubs and seasonings and Pioneer Meats will have multiple fresh meat options available such as farmers sausage, steaks, deli meat as well as other items like perogies.
Closer to the end of June, Petter Farms and BC Fruit Truck will be available with fresh produce.
“I am just excited to get the market season rolling again that I actually haven’t had a chance to think of anything to do for the first day other than to just open and see some smiling faces, but I am sure we will be having some special events in the near future,” Blanchard said when asked about any special grand opening celebrations.
The new hours are something that Blanchard, along with the vendors are excited about, as this will provide more opportunity for those working throughout the day to visit the market. “We had a lot of people mention that they wished the market was open later so that they are still able to shop the market while working a full-time job. We had changed the hours closer to the end of last season and all of the vendors agreed that there was certainly an uptick in traffic and some positive comments shared as well.”
Although there is a wide variety of vendors on hand, Blanchard noted that they are always looking for new vendors to sign up and invites anyone with locally crafted products that are interested in participating to contact martensvillemarket@gmail.com
