Martensville residents will have an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted household chemicals and other hazardous materials during the City of Martensville’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, August 22nd.
The collection will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Martensville Sports Centre parking lot. The event provides residents with a safe disposal option for materials that cannot be placed in regular garbage or recycling. Improper disposal of hazardous household waste can contaminate the environment, including local waterways and greenspaces.
A wide variety of household materials will be accepted, including automotive fluids and batteries, household cleaners, aerosols, propane cylinders, gasoline and other fuels, fluorescent light bulbs, paint, pesticides and fertilizers, solvents, pharmaceuticals and pool chemicals.
Residents are asked to bring materials in containers that will not spill or leak. All items must be clearly labelled and, whenever possible, kept in their original packaging. Unidentified materials will not be accepted. The collection is for household hazardous waste only, and commercial, industrial and farm waste will not be accepted.
Those bringing used motor oil should also note that containers cannot be larger than 20 litres, with a maximum of 60 litres accepted per resident.
Materials that cannot be accepted include asbestos, needles and sharps, explosives and ammunition, most compressed gases, radioactive materials, used automotive and bicycle tires, and unknown chemicals.
Residents can find the complete list of accepted and prohibited materials online at https://www.martensville.ca/…/2026/07/2026-HHW-Notice.pdf.
