The North Ridge Community Centre was packed Wednesday, September 19th filled with supporters of ‘Team Dunville’, the family of Molly Dunville who is undergoing treatments for Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nervous system.

The night started out with Master of Ceremonies Lyle Evanisky keeping the mood light for the crowd before supper. After the delicious meal provided by Smokehaus Meats, the crowd was entertained by Matt Gore, better known as ‘Ginger Ninja’. A dessert auction hosted by Rory Bergerman, teacher at MHS, saw generous people open up their wallets in return for some delicious baking.

Molly will be receiving scans in the upcoming week to see if the treatments she has received up until now are shrinking her tumors. After that she will be going to Calgary where she will receive a cycle of high dose chemo that will destroy the cancer cells, along with the healthy cells. Upon completion, the frozen stem cells which were harvested earlier, will be returned to her body and she will be required to spend the next two months in the hospital, giving her body time to build the immune system back up.

The grand total for the event was $17,400. The organizers for this fundraiser would like to thank all their sponsors;
Vern’s Pizza Martensville for donating the youth meal, City of Martensville for providing the venue, A&W Canada for donating the buns and MHS Commercial Cooking for providing the salads. Also to Handy Special Events, Sprinkles the Clown, as well as everyone who donated baking, silent auction items, raffle items and cash donations and the Martensville Messenger Newspaper for advertising the event.
