Boys Host Tourney

The MHS boy’s soccer team coached by Kate McKinnon, hosted a 4-team tournament on Saturday at Wilson Field. Among the participants were Prince Albert Carleton, Poundmaker, and Se Se Wa Hum. The boys played their first game against Poundmaker at noon. It was evenly matched with both teams scoreless at the half. Josh Failler was stellar in net once again for the Royals as they took the win 1-0. Carleton won both their games so they brought home the gold while Martensville came second. Next weekend they host regional playoffs when Poundmaker, John Paul II, and Se Se Wa Hum come to town. Games start at 9:30 Saturday. The fi nal will be at 3:00 pm.

The girls team coached by Breanne Cooper, have had some good match ups but have a 1-3 record in season play. They are headed to Swift Current this weekend for their regional playoffs. Dalmeny, Caronport and Herbert will be participating in the regionals. The girls are also hosting provincials on October 27 and 28. Opening ceremonies for the event will be at 10:30 am at the MHS gym. “This season we have many new players who have greatly improved throughout the season,” commented Coach Cooper. “We have a lot of leaders on the team who are helping to mentor the new players.” They are looking forward to hosting Provincials on October 27-28. Come out and cheer on your Royals.
