For the past six years, Ayotte Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning has been a driving force within Martensville and surrounding communities. Owner/operator Joey Ayotte saw the community that him and his family called home growing at a rapid pace and decided to take the plunge into business ownership. “It started as something that Joey just wanted to do on his own. We didn’t anticipate the growth that our business has had. We have always been very thankful to the members of the community because they are the ones that have supported us right from the start,” co-owner Joni Ayotte said.
Since first opening their doors, the company has grown immensely, now employing five full time technicians and bringing in a variety of new services to offer to their customers. “We think it is important to be able to offer new promotions and services and we are always looking at ways to better serve our customers,” Joni added. In recent years, the option for financing has been made available to customers. “With a lot of clients, there are things that come up that can be an unexpected cost and sometimes it is hard to come up with that kind of money up front so we got set up with a financing company to help out in those situations.” Services provided by the company include plumbing, heating, air conditioning, gas fitting, new builds, commercial, residential and more.
Approximately a year and a half ago, the company was excited to add duct cleaning to the list of services they offer. Since starting this service, it has grown in popularity, with new customers coming in on a weekly basis. This service was something that both Joni and Joey felt was important to provide as it can help benefit homeowners on many levels. One of the biggest benefits is the dust control that comes with having clean ducts in a home. It can help with allergies, asthma, shedding pets and more. Joni also recommends having your ducts cleaned if you have recently done renovations, or if you live in a high traffic area where dust is always around. “Every time your furnace kicks in, all of that goes through it and sticks to the walls and continues to build up. Another big thing that people often don’t think of is having their dryer vents blown out. Dryer vents can have quite the buildup and if not cleaned properly, they can be a big fire hazard,” Joey explained.
Recently, Ayotte Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning has developed a partnership with Home Depot South in Saskatoon and will now be providing service for Home Depot customers. In addition to working with customers to provide furnace and air conditioner maintenance and installation, Joni explained that the company is also excited to be able to offer their clients promotions through Home Depot. “They have a great deferral program, which can sometimes provide customers with the ability to go 18, 24 or even 36 months without any interest on their payments. Right now, they also have a great promotion on their warranty, offering a ten year warranty on parts and labour, where it is typically one year on labour. It is all very exciting,” said Joni. For both Joni and Joey, this partnership is a huge compliment to the hard work they have put in throughout the past six years
Putting customers first is always a priority for the couple, and this is proven by the steps that they take in order to provide top-notch service and accommodation for anyone in need of work. Recently, the company was excited to launch a new after-hours answering service, which ensures that anyone calling outside of normal work hours will be able to speak to someone on the other end. “No matter the time, whether it is 11pm, or 4am, there will be someone answering the phone. We are really excited about that because a lot of people would prefer to speak to a real person instead of getting a machine. Now, if you call in, you speak to a representative, leave your information and then a technician will get in touch with you. The customer doesn’t have to worry about anything; it is all taken care of for them.”
Along with providing numerous services for customers, Joni and Joey also believe in providing service at an affordable rate. One of the ways they do this is by providing service at all hours of the day at the same rate for residents living in Martensville, Warman and Dalmeny. “We never have call out fees or over-time fees. We realize that people work hard for their money, so we want to ensure that they can get the work they need done at an affordable price,” said Joni.
Among the employees at Ayotte Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning is Joni and Joey’s eldest son Kyle, who started in his third year apprentice training this week. “We value all of our employees equally but it is a proud moment when your son takes interest in the trade and wants to work with you. He has done so well and it is nice to have him on board,” the proud father noted. The couple then commented on how much of the success of their business can be attributed to their employees. “We owe them all a big thank you for their hard work, dedication and for the long hours they put in. It is appreciated more than words can even express,” added Joey.
The Ayotte family moved to Martensville in 2002, wanting to find a community that was close-knit and could provide the perfect home for their three children. Upon moving here, the population was approximately 4000, and within the years of living here, that number has more than doubled. “Even though Martensville has grown so much in population and in businesses, the people in the community still care so much about each other and we have been able to maintain that small town feeling,” Joni stated. Being proud of their community makes it easy for the Ayotte’s to do their part to support events and organizations within Martensville. Over the years, the company has provided sponsorship and donations to numerous events, and have participated in as many of those events as possible. “We believe that it is important to support the community that you live and work in. We take pride in the fact that Martensville is our home and we want to give back where we can. It is because of the community that we are able to have a successful business,” Joni commented.
