A local Halloween tradition is returning for its third year as Scare Away Hunger prepares to once again raise donations for the Martensville Food Pantry.
Organized by Martensville resident Ron Gurski and his family, the annual initiative combines the fun of the Halloween season with an opportunity to give back to those in need within the community.
After a successful campaign in 2025, Gurski is hoping residents, schools and local businesses will once again get behind the fundraiser.
“2025 was amazing, thanks to everyone that made a donation, and thank you so much for all the kind words of support,” Gurski stated.
As part of this year’s campaign, Gurski is inviting local schools to help spread the word and encouraging elementary school classes, preschool groups and other organizations to visit the Halloween display.
Groups interested in visiting are asked to contact Gurski ahead of time so he can ensure the display is ready for them to enjoy.
Gurski is also challenging Martensville businesses to get involved by making a contribution either directly to the Martensville Food Pantry (MFP) or through the Scare Away Hunger collection at 410 4th Street South.
In addition to other donations, residents with extra garden produce are encouraged to consider donating it to the MFP. Those wishing to donate produce are asked to contact the organization by texting (306) 280-1255 or emailing martensvillefoodpantry@gmail.com to arrange a drop-off.
“Thank you again for all of your support over the years,” Gurski said. “We look forward to another amazing fundraiser and meeting everyone who stops by.”
