Charges Laid After Five Hour
RV Park Standoff

Members from Patrol, the Tactical Support Unit, the Crisis Negotiation Team and the Canine Unit worked together to peacefully resolve a five-hour stand-off with a barricaded person on July 6.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., July 6, 2021, Police responded to an altercation at an RV park near Highway 16 and 71st Street West involving three individuals in possession of weapons. Two men and a woman were located outside of a motorhome upon arrival; two of them were taken into custody without incident. Police successfully deployed a conducted energy weapon (CEW) and took the suspect into custody without further incident. He was assessed on scene by paramedics before being transported to SPS Detention. A rifle was located inside the motorhome.

To ensure public safety, individuals camping nearby were evacuated from the area during the incident. No one was injured.

A 52-year-old Langham, SK man is facing four firearms-related offences and is charged with Assaulting a Police Officer and Causing a Disturbance.

A 40-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, both from Saskatoon, are also charged with Causing a Disturbance. The incident will be reviewed in accordance with SPS policy.
