MCRP Committee Gets First Look at New Martensville Rec Centre

by Jocelyn Ottenbreit

The Martensville Recreation Centre (MRC) is making progress towards opening the facility later this year.

This 680-acre residential and commercial development located just west of Highway 12 and bordering the City’s current west boundary began construction in November of 2022 and is scheduled to be open in the fall of this year.

“Our crews are gearing up to pour the main arena slab, putting the finishing touches on the ceilings, and the climbing wall is nearly complete. Additionally, we’re on the verge of finishing the drywall scope, and signage installation is well underway,” stated Wright Construction Western Inc., via social media.

A tour of the facility was given to members of the Martensville Community Recreation Project (MCRP) Committee lead by Roxane Melnyk, Director of Recreation and Community Services, on Friday, May 31st.

Some of the unique features of this facility include a leisure/practice ice surface, indoor playground and mini-stick area, concession and vendor space to go along with the main field house and 900 seat arena.

If you are considering being a part of this project, you can participate in one of the many Martensville Community Recreation Project events, or through a charitable donation. Donations for this project are being accepted at www.mcrp.ca/donate/. There are also still various options for sponsorship by contacting the City of Martensville.
