On Friday, May 4th, the Prairie Sky Chamber of Commerce hosted the third annual Warman Martensville Business Excellence Awards (WMBEXA) at the Brian King Centre in Warman. According to PSCC, “this prestigious event is held each year as a way to publicly recognize local businesses that have demonstrated a passion for excellence, a commitment to their community and a strong entrepreneurial spirit.”
The awards were emceed by Steve McLellan, Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce CEO and Shawna Nelson, Past Chair of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, who kept the evening flowing smoothly as the sold-out crowd waited patiently for the winners to be revealed. Approximately 300 business representatives, sponsors and honorees from the City of Martensville and Warman were in attendance as the recipients of the five categories were announced.

inners consisted of: Affinity Credit Union for Community Involvement, Finelite Photography and Design for Customer Service, Santosha Yoga and Wellness Therapies for New Business of the Year, Martensville Community Recreation Project for Non-Profit of the Year and SAS Home and Floral Boutique for Business of the Year.
Teresa Helperl and Joelle Ward, owners/operators of SAS Home and Floral Boutique, took to the stage with their employees to accept the coveted award and delivered a moving speech about their late mother, who was the inspiration behind the business.
Nominations began in December of 2017 and this March five finalists from each category were announced live during a luncheon. The evening is not just for finalists and sponsors, as it has proven to be a popular way for business representatives from the region to network and build relationships with one another.
