Martensville’s Canadian Tire has taken on a whole new look over the past year, and to celebrate the renovation, a grand-reopening celebration including a ribbon cutting, special sales, a BBQ fundraiser, giveaways and more took place over the past week.
When Canadian Tire was first constructed in Martensville in 2015, it was built as a 30,000 square-foot space; however, the recent expansion saw it increase in size to 50,000 square-feet. There was also numerous upgrades and modifications to the space to increase convenience for shoppers, including LED lighting throughout the store, electronic shelf labels to help make shopping and price accuracy more efficient and a new façade to the front of the building.
The expanded space was open to the public in August; however, there was still work to be done before owner/dealer Lindsay Ullathorne was ready to officially celebrate the new space.
Along with the additional space comes additional products and shoppers will now be able to find more items locally than they previously could, including an expanded sporting goods area, kitchen and home items, pet supplies, a year-round toy section, and tool/automotive supplies. The new space also allows for more ability to showcase products with displays, especially during the holidays.
The expansion also saw a need for more employees on staff to accommodate shoppers, keeping shelves stocked, unloading trucks and more. Currently, there are more than 100 employees on staff at the Martensville Canadian Tire location.
One of the newest additions was a permanent indoor plant store within the front vestibule, where they could utilize the natural light flowing in from the windows. There are fresh tropical deliveries coming in each week from Central Botanical Growers.
