November 4th – Regular Council Meeting Recap
Items discussed or adopted at the Regular Council Meeting:
1. The 2026 Council Meeting Schedule was adopted. This can be found on the City Website under Agendas and Meetings. https://www.martensville.ca/pages/agendas_and_minutes.html
2. City Council approved the Mayor signing and sending a Letter of Support regarding E-Justice.
While the City of Martensville is able to issue tickets and fines for bylaw infractions, collection of those tickets and fines is challenging. The City may utilize the Provincial court system however this tends to be reserved for more significant infractions due to the significant cost and time delay. If the City had access to an e-Justice bylaw court with in a reasonable geographic distance, the process could be more accessible, efficient, timely and cost effective.
3. City Council approved the closure of City Hall on December 29th, 30th, and 31st, 2025 and that other City facilities operate with reduced hours during the Christmas holiday period.
4. City Council approved Administration proceeding with requesting a Debt Limit Increase.
5. City Council had the opportunity to review the proposed Strategic Plan for 2025-2029 and had a few recommendations so it will go to a future Committee of the Whole meeting to review and then a Regular Council Meeting for adoption.
6. City Council approved the reallocation of $35,000 from the Facility Upgrade Project within the 2025 Capital Budget to fund required repairs at the Martensville Athletic Pavilion.
7. City Council approved the expenditure of $150,000 from the Utilities Infrastructure Reserve to replace the backup generator at Sewer Lift Station #1.
8. City Council approved the expenditure of $17,500 to complete asbestos assessments.

As the community continues to grow, so does the need for accessible, inclusive programming and resources.
Martensville Housing Authority: Seeking Chairperson
The Martensville Housing Authority is seeking a passionate and community-minded Chairperson to lead its Board of Directors.
This volunteer opportunity is ideal for someone who wants to make a lasting difference by supporting low and moderate-income families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities in accessing safe housing in the community.
As Chair, you’ll work alongside a dedicated Board of Directors and Manager to allocate and manage the portfolio of units in Martensville. Board members do not perform administrative or maintenance work directly—your role is to provide leadership, insight, and governance that help strengthen our community.
