Well week 15 in the CFL was a wild one. It all started with the Saskatchewan Roughriders coming back from a 17-0 deficit to beat the Ottawa RedBlacks 18-17 after a punt single with two minutes left in the game. The tables turned for the Riders after a 56-yard punt return touchdown by Christion Jones to get Saskatchewan on the board. After that the RedBlacks were shut out in the fourth quarter to take the loss. Ottawa fell to second place in the East as the Riders stayed in third place in the West. The second game of the Friday night double header had a slightly different outcome. The Calgary Stampeders absolutely destroyed the Montreal Alouettes 59-11. Stamps running back Terry Williams ran for 156 yards and three TD’s on route to Calgary’s 10th win in a row. On Saturday the Edmonton Eskimos comeback was cut short by a 37-yard interception return for a TD with two minutes left in the game. The pick-6 sealed the deal for the Bombers with a 28-19 win, handing Edmonton their 6th straight loss. The night game on Saturday was another thriller as the Toronto Argonauts scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The Argos topped off the comeback with a 13-yard TD pass in overtime to take the win by a final score of 43-35. After a perfect 4-0 week for my picks my record improves to 41-17-1 on the season. My picks for week 16 are Winnipeg, Saskatchewan, Ottawa, and Montreal.

With the turn of the calendar into October that means it is finally time for regular season hockey. The regular season kicks off on Wednesday the 4th. Some headlines going into the season are if Conner McDavid can live up to his #1 ranking in the NHL given to him by TSN. Also this will be the first season for the Vegas Golden Knights so it will be interesting to see what they can do. A late headline coming in on Monday was that the ageless wonder himself Jaromir Jagr WILL be playing in the NHL this year! After waiting all summer for a team to sign the 45 year old, the Calgary Flames decided to take a shot with the veteran inking him to a one-year deal worth 1 million dollars plus performance-based bonuses. This could be the final season for Jagr who is just 57 games away from Gordie Howe’s NHL record for games played at 1767.
