Skate Martensville is rolling out the red carpet for its annual ice show, inviting the community to experience an afternoon of entertainment, creativity, and local talent at this year’s Hollywood Stars on Ice.
Set for Sunday, March 29th at 2:00pm at the Martensville Recreation Centre, the event will feature more than 100 skaters of all ages and skill levels, highlighting the depth and diversity of the club’s programming from first-time CanSkaters to experienced adult performers and synchronized skating teams.
“The ‘Hollywood Stars on Ice’ theme is inspired by the glamour of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, giving our skaters the chance to shine like stars,” said Nicole Gryba, President of Skate Martensville. “We wanted to create a show that felt energetic and fun for both skaters and the audience, drawing on the entertainment of iconic movies, music, and celebrities. It also gives us the opportunity to showcase a wide variety of music and performance styles, making the show engaging for all ages.”
Throughout the show, audiences can expect a mix of performances that bring Hollywood to life on the ice. Skaters will step into character through themed choreography, music, and costumes designed to capture the magic of film and entertainment.
Behind the scenes, months of preparation go into producing a show of this scale. From music selection and choreography to costume design, the process is a collaborative effort between coaches, skaters, and volunteers.
Gryba added that choreography and costume design play a key role in bringing each routine to life, resulting in performances that feel like “mini productions” on the ice.
“Preparing for an event like this takes months of planning and coordination,” Gryba said. “Our club begins in early January by selecting the theme and organizing music, choreography concepts, and costume ideas to bring the vision to life. Three weeks leading up to the show, skaters focus on learning and refining their routines. It’s a true team effort and all of that preparation comes together to create a fun show that highlights the hard work and dedication of our skaters, coaches and volunteers.”
For many skaters, performing in front of a hometown audience is one of the most rewarding parts of the season. “Performing in front of a home crowd is a very special experience for our skaters,” Gryba stated. “It gives them the opportunity to showcase their hard work in front of their family and friends who have been a part of their skating journey throughout the season. Our skaters feel encouraged and energized by the familiar faces in the audience, which often helps boost their confidence and allows their personalities to shine even more on the ice.”
In addition to the on-ice performances, attendees can enjoy a variety of extras, including a table full of raffle prizes, a 50/50 draw, flowers for purchase, and a photo booth.
The showcase comes on the heels of a strong showing for Skate Martensville at the 2026 Living Skies SynchroSkate Invitational, where 42 skaters represented the club across four teams.
Highlights included a second-place finish for the STAR 4 Martensville Magic team, a second-place result for the Adult III Martensville Majestics, and a third-place finish for the Adult II Martensville Momentum. Gryba noted that beyond the results, the club was proud of the teamwork, sportsmanship, and growth demonstrated by all skaters throughout the competition.
Looking ahead, Skate Martensville continues to welcome new members, with registration for the 2026–2027 season opening this summer.
“We have programs for all ages and skill levels,” Gryba said. “We encourage skaters to visit our website and Facebook page for updates.”
With a combination of athleticism, artistry, and community spirit, Hollywood Stars on Ice promises to be a highlight of the local skating season.
