Impaired Driver Stopped While Trying to Avoid Police

On April 1 at 12:30am, a Corman Park Police member stopped a vehicle that tried to sneak around another officer that was conducting a traffic stop. The driver tried to take back roads to get by. The vehicle was stopped as it looked suspicious while trying to avoid the flashing lights. The driver provided a sample of breath into an ASD. The result was a FAIL. The driver was arrested and charged for impaired operation after providing two samples of 180mg% which is twice over the legal limit.

Homemade Taser Found During Vehicle Search

On April 1, 2021 at 6:45pm Corman Park Police conducted a traffic stop on an unregistered Chevy Silverado on Highway 12 near Township 380. Both the driver and passenger had active warrants and were arrested. A search was conducted on both occupants and a functional homemade taser (prohibited weapon) was found. A search of the vehicle found weapons, small amounts of Crystal Meth and ammunition. With the assistance of Warman RCMP, occupants were brought in for processing and released with a future court date.

Vehicle Impounded Following Positive Cannabis Test on Driver

On April 5, 12:00am, a CPPS member conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at a slow rate of speed on the shoulder of Beam Rd near the BizHub. Upon speaking to the driver, a strong odor of cannabis was noted. A search of the vehicle turned up a container of dry cannabis and freshly smoked joint. The driver was detained for an impaired driving investigation and an Oral Fluid Demand was read to the driver. With the help of the Dalmeny Police Service the Oral Fluid Sample was obtained and analyzed in an approved sotoxilizer. The sample tested positive for the presence of cannabis. As a result the driver’s license was suspended for 72 hours and the vehicle was impounded for 72 hours.

Driver Faces Numerous Charges Following Traffic Stop

On April 5 at 1:25am, a CPPS member conducted a traffic stop on a truck after receiving an ALPR hit for a suspended driver on Beam Rd near the BizHub. The driver was found to be criminally prohibited from driving, stemming from a previous impaired driving charge where the driver had caused a collision and fled the scene. The driver was arrested for driving while prohibited. During the arrest open alcohol was discovered in the vehicle and signs of impairment were noted. An ASD demand was made on the driver and a sample provided resulting in a FAIL. The driver was transported to the Martensville RCMP Detachment for breath samples. The driver provided breath samples of 90mg% and 80mg%. The driver is now facing three new charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, Operation Exceeding 80mg%, and Driving While Prohibition.
