With Environment Canada forecasting blizzard conditions across much of the province, Prairie Spirit School Division (PSSD) made the decision to close all schools on Wednesday, December 17.
“The safety of our students and staff is always our priority. Our concern is the ability of students and staff to get to and from school safely,” PSSD stated in a post shared on social media.
Environment Canada is predicting up to 20cm or more of snow, wind gusts of 70 to 90 km/h, and possible freezing rain in some areas. These conditions could lead to dangerous travel, reduced visibility, and potential road closures.
PSSD families were notified of the closure through SchoolMessenger and Edsby.
At this time, PSSD schools are expected to reopen on Thursday, December 18.
