The holiday season is once again upon us, and the annual Giving Tree has returned to the Martensville Canadian Tire, a symbol of what the true meaning of Christmas is.
This longstanding tradition, which began in 2016, has become an important part of the Christmas season for many families in the community.
Positioned near the front of the store, the Giving Tree is decorated with approximately 150 to 200 ornaments, each representing a child who could use a little extra support this Christmas. The ornaments include the child’s name, age and gender. Shoppers are encouraged to choose an ornament, purchase a gift for the child listed, and return the unwrapped item to the Canadian Tire customer service desk before December 15th. Participants are invited to take the ornament home and hang it on their own tree as a reminder of the importance of giving during the holiday season.
Many families in Martensville have embraced the Giving Tree as an opportunity to teach their children the value of compassion. Each year, parents bring their children to select an ornament representing someone of similar age, turning the experience into a meaningful lesson about kindness and community. Donors often add personal touches, such as handwritten notes or drawings, making each gift even more special.
All donated gifts will be distributed to children in Martensville and Saskatoon before December 25th. The Giving Tree campaign runs from November 14th to December 15th. Anyone with questions or who knows of a child in need of a gift is encouraged to contact margaret@offroadexteriors.com.
The continued success of the Giving Tree reflects the strength, warmth and spirit of the Martensville community, where residents come together each year to ensure every child can experience the joy of Christmas.
