Martensville Food Pantry In Need of Specific Items for Back to School and Thanksgiving

by Jocelyn Ottenbreit

The Martensville Food Pantry supports families and individuals in Martensville and neighboring areas by distributing weekly food hampers. These hampers are made possible through donations contributed by community members, businesses, organizations, schools, and additional partners.

Each week, a dedicated group of volunteers comes together to sort and package the hampers, which include a variety of products including meat, vegetables, pasta & sauce, soup, crackers, cereal, children’s snacks, dairy and eggs when available.

Now that school has started back, some items that are needed to help fill up the baskets include: individual fruit juice boxes and pudding cups, granola bars (nut free), and fruit snacks.

With Thanksgiving approaching, the pantry supports nearly 20 families each year through donations. Volunteer Linda Ward noted their hampers typically include turkey or ham, potatoes, carrots, canned vegetables, gravy, juice, buns, pie, and jello.

There is also an area available within the hallway of the Martensville Civic Centre where food is available throughout the week for anyone needing some extra help to utilize.

Hampers can be requested by contacting the MFP at (306) 280-1255, martensvillefoodpantry@gmail.com or message ‘Martensville Food Pantry’ on Facebook.
