Marauders Compete in Provincial Playoffs

The Martensville Marauder hockey teams are in the midst of provincial playoffs as both the Peewee teams and Bantam teams advanced to the second round.

The Peewee A Marauders hosted Battleford in game one of the two game total point series Thursday, February 27 where they won 8 to 3. Game two was in Battleford on March 2, where they lost a tight one 3 to 2. They took the series in total points and advanced to the next round for the Northern Provincial championship against Meadow Lake. They hosted game one on Saturday, March 9. Meadow Lake has a 5-point lead in the series. The Peewee team will travel to Meadow Lake for game two on March 16. The winners of this series will face either Swift Current or Yorkton, who will come out of the south.
The Bantam A team also advanced winning their series over Warman. They won both games by a score of 3-1 and 4-2. They travelled to Swift Current on March 9. Swift Current will return to Martensville on March 16. Puck drop is 4:15pm. The winners of this series will face the winner between Yorkton and Lumsden.

The Midget A Villains travelled to North Battleford for their first game in provincials where they took the first game 5-4. The Villains fell to North Battleford in their two game total point series with a loss at home March 2. North Battleford will face Warman in the next round.

The Peewee AA team, coached by Chris Mathies, are in the second round of provincial playoffs as they faced the Kodiaks at home on March 8, winning the first of the best of three by a score of 6-2. Game two was Saturday where they lost a squeaker 2-1 taking it to a third game on Monday where they lost another close one 4-3. The Peewees were seeded first in the Saskatoon League coming into provincial playoffs.

The Bantam AA team, coached by Shaun Priel, played the Battleford Barons in the first round taking the series in two games. They won the first game in overtime 2-1 and the second 5-2. They advanced to the second round and faced Warman in the first game Tuesday winning 6-5. Game two is at the Legends on Friday, March 15 at 8:15. The Bantams are seeded #1 in the Northern Division.
