The City of Martensville is reminding parents and caregivers to keep children away from the public snow dump area located next to the dog park, emphasizing that the site is not safe for play or recreation.
City crews regularly use heavy equipment to haul and manage snow piles in this area. While the large piles may look tempting for climbing or sliding, they can be extremely dangerous. Snow mounds may contain hidden air pockets, mixed debris, and unstable sections that can collapse without warning.
Officials caution that these hazards pose a serious risk not only to children but to anyone who enters the site, particularly while snow removal operations are underway.
“For everyone’s safety, this area is not safe for recreational use, especially while snow removal operations are ongoing.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our community safe,” the City of Martensville shared via social media.
Residents are encouraged to talk with children about avoiding the site and choosing safer winter play areas instead.
