Shortly after 5:00p.m. on June 3, 2019 a lone male stole an SUV that was left running with a child inside in the 3300 block of 37th Street West. The child recognized what was occurring and jumped out of the moving vehicle shortly after it had been stolen. The child was not injured while jumping out of the SUV.
This stolen SUV left the city toward Warman and the RCMP were notified and began following the vehicle. The vehicle made its way up to the Osler area where it turned around and began heading back toward Saskatoon. As it made its way into city limits, Saskatoon Police Service members utilized tire deflation equipment which brought the stolen SUV to a stop in the 100 block of Marquis Drive. The suspect fled on foot into a busy parking lot filled with citizens picking up their groceries.
Members of the public began calling in to the police service leading us to the male where he was taken into custody. this incident is under investigation and charges are pending.
The Saskatoon Police Service want to thank the citizens of Saskatoon for their assistance in apprehension of the male.
