The 2017 version of the MCRP Casino Night was the most impressive event yet. Around 300 people came out to support the Martensville Community Recreation Project on Saturday night. The atmosphere in the North Ridge Center was electric as people danced or played poker games such as; Black Jack, Crown and Anchor and Over Under. People worked hard at winning “money” to have the ability to bid on prizes such as Roughrider or Blades Jerseys, BBQ sets and even an LED TV. Despite not having enough prizes for everyone, there were no big losers as everyone had an opportunity to have a great night out in our city with great people working towards a great cause. Next year’s event is already pre-booked so keep November 3rd, 2018 open on your calendar for our 5th annual Casino Night.
A huge thank you to Hub City Metals for sponsoring the event and Canalta Hotel for sponsoring tables. We would also like to thank all those businesses who donated prizes big and small for our auctions. Finally, we would like to say the biggest thank you to all our volunteers who help make sure that this night was a huge success, especially our local Kinsmen Club, who always steps up and brings numerous volunteers to all of our events. Make sure to try to support the events they offer throughout the year.
This year the MCRP offered teams from Martensville Minor Hockey to sell tickets to the event. In return, if teams sold 10 tickets they received $100 towards their hockey team yearly expenses. The MCRP is proud to say that they were able to give back $1500 to local hockey teams.
