This year Family Day in Martensville will offer some new opportunities to take part in with your family through Winter FunFest. On February 17th, the Martensville Athletic Pavilion (MAP) will be a hub of activity offering a variety of indoor and outdoor options for all ages from 1pm to 6pm.
In previous year’s Winter FunFest, the event has been held the first weekend of February; however, this year, they decided to combine the event with the City of Martensville Family Fun Day, with all activities taking place at the MAP instead of the North Ridge Community Centre.
“With this change, we are excited to have more room for activities and thought it would be a fun way to spend Family Day,” Program Coordinator II, Jessica Loran said.
The event will feature a variety of indoor activities including; laser tag, inflatable castles, clown shows, soap carving, stuffie riders and more. Outdoor activities include kick sledding, snowshoeing, a bonfire and hotdog roast, street hockey, sleigh rides from 2pm-5pm and others. “We also encourage people to utilize Kinsmen Park for skating and tobogganing. We will not be supervising those, but it is other fun activities to enjoy outside,” Loran added. Although this year won’t include the annual tree burn, there will still be a fireworks show taking place at 6:30pm.
“It will be a jampacked day filled with things for everyone. We invite everyone to come on out to try new activities that you have never experienced before and learn how to love winter,” said Loran.
