The RCMP, in partnership with SGI, will be conducting a traffic safety initiative known as High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) on Saskatchewan highways this upcoming weekend (October 27th & 28th).

During this initiative, officers will be speaking to motorists and performing general safety checks, ensuring driver sobriety and that vehicle standards are being met. They will also be checking that each driver has up-to-date license and registration. The stops are planned for high traffic routes and smaller, less travelled roads around the province and will occur any time, day or night.

The RCMP would like to remind motorists to slow to 60km/h when passing emergency vehicles.

The Combined Traffic Service Section (CTSS) is committed to making the roads safer. This month enforcement efforts have leaned towards distracted driving. However, police will continue to target the “Big 4” (impaired driving, occupant restraint use, aggressive driving and distracted driving) which continue to be the leading causes of death and injury on Canadian roadways.
