Sask Five Giants Get Ready for a Busy Season

by Jocelyn Ottenbreit

The Sask Five Giants Baseball Association held their evaluation camp this past weekend, April 7 – 10 for the 11U – 18U age groups. The hitting and pitching camp was held at the Legends Centre in Warman and the fielding and running camp was at Martensville Athletic Pavillion (MAP).

Sask Five Baseball is a volunteer community-based association with six divisions; Junior Rally Cap, Senior Rally Cap, 11U, 13U, 15U and 18U.

Rally Cap divisions run from beginning of May until the end of June playing twice a week on week nights in Dalmeny or Warman. According to their facebook page they stated, “After a few years of not being able to have our year end tournament we are excited to host it again in late June.”

With the exception of the 15U AAA team, the 11U,13U,15U and 18U teams will play in the Saskatoon Minor Baseball League. League play will start in early May with playoffs starting the beginning of July.

Practices are typically scheduled on the weekends, with league games scheduled on weeknights. Depending on age division, Provincial Championship tournaments will take place mid to late July.

This year they will have 2-18U teams, 3-15U, 6-13U, 6-11U, 6 Senior Rally Cap and 8 Junior Rally Cap teams.

Good luck to all this baseball season!
