On September 24, 2022, the Regional Race: Run or Ride is returning to Martensville and Warman. This event, which first began in 2017, consists of a 10km route between the two communities and is organized as a way to help highlight both cities, as well as encourage people to get active.
Each year, the beginning and end locations alternate between the two communities. This year, the event will begin in Warman at Oasis Park with a welcome and warm up at 9:00am, with the race beginning at 9:30am, and end in Martensville at the North Ridge Community Centre, where there will be a brunch and shuttle service provided.
Last year, a new option was created to help people prepare for the event. The Regional Race Running Club will be taking place on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout September at the North Ridge Community Centre from 5:30pm-6:30pm. This beginner run-club is an opportunity to come together with like-minded individuals and is free to join.
The public is invited to visit www.warmankidsport.ca to register where you can choose the number of participants attending and download a pledge sheet to help raise money which will be used to help support KidSport in Warman, Martensville and the surrounding area, providing local youth with access to activities involving recreation, culture and sport that they might otherwise miss out on. Registration for kids 13 and under is $10 and those 14+ is $20. All proceeds will go towards KidSport.
Last year, a total of $2100 was raised for KidSport, with both Martensville and Warman looking forward to hopefully surpassing that total for 2022.
