by Shanine Sealey

On Thursday, June 17 at approximately 2:20pm, the Martensville Fire Department received a call regarding a trailer on fire on Centennial Drive North in front of Great Canadian Oil Change. Upon arriving at the scene, MFD witnessed an RV on fire; however, due to assistance from bystanders utilizing fire extinguishers, the fire was minimal. MFD ensured the fire was completely extinguished.

“Due to the quick action of bystanders, and access to fire extinguishers, the fire was limited to the engine compartment. This shows the importance of having fire extinguishers in businesses accessible and ready to be used,” MFD Deputy Fire Chief Dean Brooman stated.

Security cameras at Phobia Auto Repair caught the whole experience on video and shows the quick action of Phobia employees Graham, Allan, Derek and Connor, who ran to the fire to help extinguish the blaze. (Video can be found on martensvillemessenger.ca.
