Martensville Curling Club is introducing some brand new features for those utilizing the curling rink this upcoming season. The club will be expanding the open leagues to Mondays and Thursdays, rather than just Thursdays in previous years. Thursdays will be altered from a ‘mixed league’ to a ‘modified mixed league’ which means that games will be more entry level with a more open format. President of the Curling Club, Don Miller, stated that “every curling season begins the Tuesday directly after the Thanksgiving long weekend. Registrations can be done online starting September 18th.” Another new offering at the curling club this year will be drop-ins on Fridays. These drop-ins will allow participants of multiple ages to gather their own teams together and curl. Entry for the drop-ins will be $10 a person. Tuesday to Thursday will be dedicated to league plays. For additional information about the curling rink and what it has to offer this year, contact Don Miller at (306) 227-1665 or email his at email@example.com.
Shanine Sealey has always had a passion for reading and writing. Growing up with a librarian for a mother, and working in a library as her first job at age 15, that passion continued to grow. After moving to Martensville in 2006 and working at the StarPhoenix for several years, Shanine was given the opportunity to join the team at the Martensville Messenger in 2011. From there, she fell in love with the world of newspapers. In 2014, Shanine and her co-worker Jocelyn Ottenbreit decided to purchase the Martensville Messenger, as they both felt it was an important part of the community and they wanted to continue its legacy within the City. Shanine has had the opportunity to meet so many amazing members of this community because of the Martensville Messenger, which is something that she is extremely grateful for. Her responsibilities include; reporting on local news, weekly production of the newspaper and day to day operations within the business.
