The City of Martensville Municipal Election will be taking place on Monday, November 9th and residents can vote through a number of means including Mail-In Ballot, Advanced Polls or In-Person on Election Day. The election day poll location is at the North Ridge Community Centre from 8AM-8PM.

Martensville Mayor Kent Muench has been acclaimed and will therefore be serving his third term as Mayor of Martensville.

For Council, there are a number of candidates running including current Councillors Tyson Chillog, Michael Cox, Darren MacDonald, Jamie Martens and Debbie McGuire. There are five other local residents also running for a position on City Council including; Adam Hartle, Keith Murray, Spencer Nikkel, Travis Sorenson and Matthew Stavenow.

The Prairie Sky Chamber of Commerce (PSCC) is hosting an online streaming All-Candidates Forum on Thursday, October 15th from 6:30pm-8:00pm. The forum can be viewed through the PSCC Facebook page.

“Part of our mandate as a Chamber of Commerce is to connect people to government. Our goal is to be a voice for our business community, so this falls under that mandate,” PSCC Executive Director Jaimie Malmgren said.

Due to COVID-19 precautions, the usual in-person Candidates Forum is not taking place, and instead, the candidates will all log in virtually from their location. “One of our biggest concerns with this method is for residents to be able to access it – seniors for example. There are some people that may not be on the internet or on social media and not have access to a computer. We are hoping that people will be able to contact their friends or family members to help them access the forum if they are otherwise unable to,” Malmgren stated.

All candidates will be taking part in the forum and local residents and businesses can submit questions until 5pm on Thursday via email to contact@prairieskychamber.ca or during the forum by texting (306) 292-7066.
