The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed the week of February 10-16, 2019 as Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week in the province. This year’s theme is Creating a Vibrant Education Together and was chosen by the Saskatchewan Association of School Councils (SASC).
“Throughout the past year, I have had the privilege of witnessing first-hand the enormous contributions made to our children and school communities by teachers and school staff,” Deputy Premier and Education Minister Gordon Wyant said. “We are fortunate to have such outstanding education professionals in our system supporting our students.”
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week is celebrated across Canada each year to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all our teachers and education professionals.
This year marks the 32nd year that Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week will be celebrated in Saskatchewan.
“This year’s theme, ‘Creating a Vibrant Education Together’, recognizes the importance of the relationships that influence positive experiences for students and educators alike,” SASC Director Joy Bastness said. “Teachers, students, parents, and community members all work together to produce a quality educational teaching and learning program. We recognize and appreciate the teachers and staff members who take the time to give students the knowledge and learning experiences that make them successful and we applaud those valuable contributions.”
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week was first introduced in 1988 by The Canadian Home and School Federation, a national organization of parents who volunteer for schools through Parent School Advisory Councils and Home and School Associations.
